A legal notice was served yesterday asking the government to conduct a judicial inquiry into the death of Golam Faizullah Fahim, who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with law enforcers in Madaripur on June 18. Advocate FM Zulfiqure Ali Zunnu, a Supreme Court lawyer, sent the notice to the home secretary, inspector general of police, superintendent of police and officer-in-charge of Madaripur Sadar Police Station by post. The notice asked the respondents to explain within 15 days whether there was any mystery in the killing of Fahim and whether he was killed in a “shootout” to hide the real culprits. The notice also asked them to explain why departmental action will not be taken against those police personnel who were involved in Fahim’s death.
