Germany bans direct Bangladesh cargo flights

STAFF REPORTER

Staff reporter

There is a new ban on direct cargo services from Bangladesh to any airport in Germany, with any flights required to be re-screened at a third-country airport after Australia and the UK, reports Aircargo.
German authorities on Sunday informed the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) of the move, the web portal said.
Australia imposed a similar ban on direct cargo flights from Bangladesh on security grounds late last year and the UK did the same in March.
Both those bans are still in place, even though a British security company has taken charge of cargo screening at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
In the letter to the CAAB, the German civil aviation authority mentioned that all consignments originating from Bangladesh shall be identified as high risk cargoes and shall be screened according to the requirement set out in the commission meeting in Germany.
