Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling consumer goods at a fixed price through a number of outlets in the city to keep the prices of essential commodities under control during the Ramzan.In Rajshahi division 420 dealers and in the district and city corporation 88 dealers have been appointed so far to sell TCB goods. But, on the plea of scanty profit, most of the dealers are not drawing their goods from the ware houses and the customers are returning empty handed by not getting goods from the dealers.
According to TCB sources, to keep control the market price, TCB has started supplying sugar, soybean and lentil to the dealers through 20 agents under city corporation and 120 in the district.
Each dealer has been allocated 500-1000 kilogramme of sugar, 100-200 kilogramme of lentil, 300-500 kilogramme of gram and 500-1000 liters of soybean oil.
TCB is selling sugar at Tk 37 per kg, imported lentil at Tk. 103.00 per kilogramme, imported gram at Tk 53 per kilogramme, date at Tk 80 per kilogramme and soybean oil at Tk. 880 per liters.
Minhaz, a dealer at Shaheb Bazaar area, said the price in which TCB is supplying commodities to the dealers has no difference with that of market prices. That is why; customers are reluctant to purchase goods from TCB outlets.
Anisur Rahman, chief of TCB office in Rajshahi, said according to the rules of TCB no dealer is being allowed to earn profit more than taka 3.50 per kilo/litre.
“If any dealer does not draw goods from TCB, his dealership would be cancelled,” Rahman added.
