BCB won’t support two-tier Test cricket

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh Cricket Board vice president Mahbubul Anam said that they will not support if the two-tier system in Test cricket is inducted by ICC.
“Of course we do not support it because we still believe that the more you will play with the high-ranked team the more you will improve. Our standard in one day cricket would not be improved if we don’t play with the big teams. We have promoted to full Test member country from the non-Test country while we used to play at non-Test level. At that time we thought ourselves to be the kings,” said Mahbubul Anam.
“But when we came to the upper level we then got a blow. That was a real world, where competition was a different level. If we back from that level once again, our cricket will not then be improved further,” Anam told media after the final match of the Young Tigers School Cricket tournament at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The BCB VP said that ICC’s task is to not create an elite class barring globalizing the game.
“I think ICC has a responsibility to globalize the cricket. Creating a special class is not ICC’s responsibility. If you look at the other global bodies you will see they extend their members day by day,” he thinks.
When asked to make comment over it, he said, “There are still many obscurities in the proposal of the two-tier system. It is needed to clear the meaning of it further. It’ll be too early to make a full comment over it. Because it’s not a matter of TV right. It combined all the things. It’s not clear to all till now.”
