Bangladesh will start the conditioning camp for the upcoming home series against England on July 20, two weeks after the long Eid vacation.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to announce their preliminary squad for the home series but it will soon be announced. It is learnt from the BCB insiders that selectors finalised a 30-member provisionary squad for the conditioning camp ahead of the home series.
Bangladesh have been playing T20 and 50-overs games since last some few months. They have done well in there. But they have lacks of fitness for the longer version.
Although the formal fitness camp has not been started some players are regularly doing their fitness practice for the next home series.
In this regard fast bowler Al Amin Hossain said that they will start preparing themselves first through fitness camp for the longer version cricket.
“We are in the games since long times. The bulk of them were shorter format and 50-over games. So, we have a bit lack of fitness for the longer version. Fitness camp will start soon. Like others I will try to keep myself fit for the games,” said Al Amin Hossain, who will leave Dhaka for Jhenidah on Monday to spend the Eid vacation with family members.
“England is coming ahead to play in Bangladesh. If I got chance to play the series I will try to give my utmost effort to do well,” Hossain told reporters at the National Cricket Academy yesterday
Al Amin, who took the fourth highest wickets in DPL, said that he is not much satisfied with his DPL performance.
“I have grabbed 25 wickets from 16 matches. But it would be better if I got 30-32 wickets in the league,” Jhenidah-born pacer said.
The final schedule and fixture for England series has not been released formally. But the visiting side is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka September 30 to play a total of five games including two Test matches and three One-Day Internationals against Bangladesh to be played in between October 7 and November 2.
The English team likely to be led by Alastair Cook will start their tour campaign with a 50-over warm-up game in Fatullah before playing the first two ODIs in Dhaka.
The third ODI will be held in Chittagong on October 12. The touring side will also play the first Test at Port City between October 20 and 24.
The series will conclude with the second Test match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from October 28 to November 2.
England are also expected to play two consecutive two-day warm-up games at the MA Aziz Stadium prior to the start of the Test matches.
The last Test series between the two countries was held in 2010 when Bangladesh toured England and lost the two-match series 2-0.
Since the three-match ODI series between the two teams in 2010, Bangladesh have played England just twice, once each in the 2011 and 2015 cricket World Cups and have won both the encounters.
