20 trucks seized

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) early yesterday seized 20 trucks Galvanised Plain (GP) sheet metal imported in Chittagong Port and fined the importer Tk 8 lakh for evading revenue.
The trucks laden with GP metal sheet were seized  from the gate No.1 of Chittagong port, said CIID.
 “A company named J & Z Steel Company Limited imported the GP sheets declaring as secondary GP sheets, however, the sheets were prime quality. The company tried the evade Tk24 lakh revenue.
Rumana Enterprise a C&F agents was releasing the goods,” said Shamimur Rahman, deputy director of CIID.
 “Per ton prime quality GP sheets price is $700 while the price of secondary GP sheets is $470.
They imported it Giving miss-declare and the company was fined Tk8 lakh.
