Sir,
Making the 100th year anniversary of the birth of Bangabandhu into a worldwide celebration, deserves really serious consideration. For years tour operators throughout Bangladesh have been racking their brains for good ideas that would bring tourists from all over the world to Bangladesh and, unfortunately, suffered great financial losses in the process.
The innovative idea that Sir Frank Peters has put forward, which I read about in The Independent, would not only properly honour the greatest man ever known in Bangladesh, Bangabandhu, but open Bangladesh to tourism that other countries enjoy, create a solid foundation for future Bangladesh tourism and it would kick-start unprecedented tourism to Bangladesh for the first time in its history.
It’s common knowledge that word of mouth is the best form of advertising, but for that to happen, you need to get the people here first before they can go away and talk about it. Like Sir Frank, I believe Bangabandhu’s centenary celebration is a blessing and rare once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will envelope and unite the county in many respects. It should not be missed and it will tell the world about a great Bangladeshi hero, something that makes us all proud to be Bangladeshi in many different ways.
