Arambagh get visa for final
Arambagh players have reason to celebrate in different way after toppling Team BJMC by 3-1 in the first semifinal of the Federation Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital yesterday. BFF PHOTO

A couple of goals from Kester Akon and Jafar Iqbal struck a sensational goal in the injury time which guaranteed Arambagh to get visa for the final of the Walton Federation Cup football tournament defeating Team BJMC by 3-1.
Held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Arambagh came from a goal down to eliminate BJMC in the first semifinal scoring three late goals in the second half yesterday in the capital.
Arambagh will face the winners of Dhaka Abahani and Sheikh Russel in the final on June 27. The second semifinal will take place today at 7.30pm.
BJMC stole the show in the first half when Jakir Hossain Ziku converted a free kick off Eleta Kingsley on 39th minute (1-0).
From a counter attack BJMC raided the Arambagh fort and defender Kamruzzaman made an unnecessary foul five yards distance from the box and Eleta’s free kick found unmarked Ziku inside the penalty box who had enough time to mark the target (1-0).
After taking the lead BJMC adopted a full defensive game to retain the lead in the opening half.
Saiful Bari Titu’s boys changed their game pattern after the breather and launched offensive approach. It helped them take the match under their control and levelled the arrear on 63rd minute with Kester Akon converted a penalty.
BJMC defender Shaikat Das made a danger foul to Aung Ching Marma at the edge of the penalty box and referee Azad Rahman directed to the dreaded spot. Kester Akon did not make any mistake to score the equaliser (1-1).
Arambagh players got back their pace and took the lead seven minutes later through Kester Akon when the Nigerian rifled an angular shot into the far post after going into the box with a solo lead down the left side with Abdullah set up a long ball for him on 70th (2-1).
Soon Jafar Iqbal struck a beautiful goal to ensure the victory for Arambagh in the fourth minute of five minutes injury time. Iqbal broke down the left wing and got into the box with a good sprint leaving behind his markers before blasting home a close range shot past the goalkeeper (3-1).
