A court here yesterday sentenced three people to life term rigorous imprisonment for possessing contraband heroin. The court also fined them Tk 25,000, in default, to suffer two years more RI. The convicted persons are Abdul Karim, 30, Jahangir Hossain, 33, and Kawsar Ali, 34, of Hakimpur village of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila. According to the prosecution, the convicted persons were arrested with 200 grams of heroin by RAB members from a mango orchard at Terorashia village in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on January 18, 2011 and were later handed over to police with a case. SI Khurshed Alam of RAB filed a case under Narcotics Control Act. Later, after investigation SI Mahbubur Rahman submitted chargesheet against them on February 23, 2011. After examining the records and witnesses, District and Session Judge Enamul Bari handed down the verdict.
