A fire broke out at the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Wednesday night that gutted valuables worth Tk1crore of GF Textile.
The fire originated at around 9:30pm but the source origination of fire could not be identified, said Agrabad fire service and civil defense sources.
“On information, 14 vehicles from EPZ, Bandar, and Agrabad fire service units rushed in the spot and soused the flame after two hours fanatic efforts at around 11:30pm, said Md Humayun Kabir, operator of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defense.
Fire gutted infrastructure of the factory, machineries and cotton worth about Tk1 crore, said Humayun.
Meanwhile, Our correspondent adds from Gazipur: At least 12 shops of Halim Market in Chakrabarti area of Gazipur city were gutted in a fire on Thursday noon.
Huge amount of different types of goods were burnt to ashes in the fire incident.
Assistant deputy director of Gazipur fire service Akteruzzaman Liton said, the fire originated from a stationery shops of Halim Market at around 12.30 pm on Thursday and it spread to the others shops of the market. Valuables of 12 shops were burnt to ashes in the fire. On information, three fire fighting units from Gazipur fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire after 1.30 hours of frantic efforts. The reason behind the fire incident and losses could not be known immediately.
