Audience-admired actresses Golam Farida Chhanda and her mentor Wahida Mallik Jolly will be appearing together after a one year break in an Eid special tele-drama titled ‘Kokhon Ajante’, written and directed by Sathirtho Rahman Rubel. The thriller drama also stars Jayanta Chattopadhyay in a very crucial role. DhakaLive has news that the shooting of the tele-drama is currently ongoing at a shooting house in the capital’s Uttara area.
On an interesting note, when Golam Farida Chhanda was a student in the Department of Theatre and Performances Studies of Dhaka University, Wahida Mallik Jolly was her teacher, and through her passion for acting and talent, Chhanda became one of Jolly’s favourite students. After university, the two have appeared together in various tele-dramas, including ‘Ekjon Aynal Laskar’, directed by Salahuddin Lavlu and written by Gazi Rakayet.
Regarding working with her student again in the tele-drama, Wahida Mallik Jolly said, “During her student life, Chhanda was immensely talented and a successful student, especially in the practical. The fact that she had the talent and qualities to become an actress then is the reason why Chhanda has managed to develop herself into a great actress now. I always have the best wishes for her.”
Golam Farida Chhanda also shared her thoughts about her teacher, “Wahida Mallik Jolly is a brilliant actress, who is also very down to earth. She is one of my favourite teachers. Working with her makes one feel that you are working with one of your own and she definitely makes one feel close to her.”
The teacher-student duo last appeared together a year ago in the tele-drama ‘Mon Je Kichu Bujhe Na’, also directed by Sathirtho Rahman Rubel.
At present, Wahida Mallik Jolly-acted drama serial ‘Saat’ti Tarar Timir’, directed by Afsana Mimi, is regularly being aired on ATN Bangla. On the other hand, Chhanda-acted tele-drama ‘Jiboner Aligali’ is currently aired on ATN Bangla and drama serials ‘Mohor Ali’ and ‘Kahini’ are currently being aired on Channel i. l
