Abahani lock horns with Prime Bank today

The fifth and final round of the Super League of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will take place at three different venues in Dhaka and its adjoining areas today.
Star-studded Abahani Limited will lock horns with Prime Bank Cricket Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club will take on Legends of Rupganj at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) Ground-3 in Savar, whilst Victoria Sporting Club will face-off Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah.
All the matches will kick off 9:00am simultaneously.
The matches between Abahani Limited and Prime Bank Cricket Club and Prime Doleshwar versus Legends of Rupganj will be the epicenter of all the attention amongst the three matches as Victoria and Mohammedan have already derailed from the title race.
Abahani and Legends amongst the remaining of the four teams are in the championship race. They both notched an identical 20 points. But Dhanmondi-outfit earned equal number of points from 14 matches, one match less than Legends.
Due to better net run-rate than Legends of Rupganj, Abahani are in the pole position. The Sky-Blues has another unsettled match in hands. That second round match against Prime Doleshwar, which remained unsettled because of players, teams and umpiring issues.
If Abahani can win the match against Prime Bank, along with that if Legends missed to win the match against Doleshwar then Abahani will emerge champions.
But if both Abahani and Legends win their respective match then Abahani will be champion in terms of the most winning record, which will be the first criteria to define the league title.
Even if Abahani loses the match alongside Legends wins the match then the latter will not be champions. In that aspect, they have to wait till the result of the unsettled match.
If the board ordered to replay the match after getting the recommendation of the fact-finding committee then Abahani will get another chance to lift the title though they lag behind Legends despite their victory in the last match of the Super League.
It will be a plus point for Abahani as they have an unsettled match in hands in effect. Thereafter, this match will be vital for the league title.
