The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 yesterday ordered its registrar office to publish advertisement in two newspapers asking two fugitive war criminals from Habiganj and Kishoreganj to appear before the tribunal, reports BSS.
"Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, passed the order and set August 21 for holding further hearing into the matter," said prosecutor Rezia Sultana.
The accused are Liakat Ali and Aminul Islam alias Razab Ali, from Habiganj and Kishoreganj respectively. The prosecution on May 3 submitted formal charge against the duo, bringing seven charges of crimes against humanity against them. The first tribunal on May 18 took the charges into cognizance and issued arrest warrant against them. But the law enforcing agencies are yet to detain them.
Liakat, former president of Lakhai upazila Awami League in Habiganj, was involved with Muslim League along with his maternal uncle in 1970.
