New pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman is on the verge of making some more records when Bangladesh would take on India today in the third and last match of the series.
He has already claimed 11 wickets in the first two matches which itself is a record and three more wickets would make him the highest wicket-taker in a bilateral series, consisted of three matches.
Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris currently hold the record of taking 13 wickets in a three-match bilateral series against Pakistan in 2013.
Mustafizur Rahman’s off-cutter created a sensation in the cricket world as the much-vaunted Indian batting line up found no answer to deal with it.
His cutter fetched him five for 50 on his debut and it was expected that the Indian would come with more determination and practice to deal with Mustafizur’s cutter in the second match. But they again were floundered by the same off-cutter and Mustafizur returned figures of six for 43 in the second match to create a history.
No bowler other than Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis had taken consecutive three five-for in the ODI cricket. Mustfizur has the chance to touch the landmark of Younis. But Mustafizur’s record will be more enticing than that of Waqar, considering it would come in his first three matches. Waqar’s record three consecutive five-for came after he had already played 24 ODIs.
