2 held with fake currency notes
Benapole: Police arrested two people in possession of 148 fake currency notes amounting to Tk 1,18,500 from Jessore town on Sunday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Raju Ahmed, a resident of Gatipara village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore, and Latif Hossain, a resident of Kalia upazila of Narail
district.
Amir Hossain, sub-inspector of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at Eden Market and arrested Raju at about 9:30pm.
Later, 59 forged notes of Tk 500 denomination were recovered after searching his body.
Based on Raju’s information, police conducted another drive in Bejpara of Jessore town and arrested Latif along with 89 forged notes of Tk 1,000 denomination at about 10:30pm.  
A case was filed in this connection.
One held with 700 yaba
Benapole: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 700 pieces of yaba tablets from Setai village of Sharsha upazila in Jessore district on Sunday night, reports UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Fazlu Goldar, 40, son of Amir Ali Goldar, a resident of the village.
Major Abdullah AL Mehedi, commander of Rab-6, said on secret information, a team of the elite force conducted the drive at the village and arrested Fazlu along with the yaba tablets while his associate Kuddus, managed to flee away.
A case was filed with Sharsha Police Station in this connection.
Youth electrocuted in B’baria
Brahmanbaria: A young man died from electrocution at Ahmmedpur village of Nabinagar upazila on Sunday evening, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Yunus Miah, 22, son of Jabbar Miah, a resident of the village in Fatehpur
union.
Family sources said Yunus came in contact with a live electric wire fallen on road while he was returning after playing football at the village in the evening.
Critically injured, he was rushed to Nabinagar Sadar Hospital where doctor declared him dead.
