Info leaders to help make rural people info-educated: Speakers

Chittagong: Speakers at a function here yesterday said the 10,000 Union Digital Centre (UDC) entrepreneurs will play vital role to make people in rural areas info-educated, reports UNB. The expansion of information technology has created an opportunity to know any information within a moment and the info leaders could ensure free flow of information and help make info-educated people in the villages, they said. They speakers came up with the view at the certificate awarding ceremony of a 3-day Training of Trainers (ToT) held at the Chittagong Government Teachers Training College (TTC). Jointly organised by Trinomuler Tahthya janala Programme of ICT Division and Tathya seba Barta Sangstha (TSB) the function was also addressed among others by senior journalist and former bureau chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain and TSB Executive Editor Dr.  Aliur Rahman. Principal of TTC Rupesh Chowdhury presided over the function. Senior journalist and former bureau chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain said the enhancement of skills through writing reports and features, the info leaders could write success stories, development news on agriculture, education, social issues, health and disseminate in the social and mass media ensuring free flow of grassroots information. The capacity of the 10,000 info leaders to write reports and features is also very important for marketing products using social and mass media, he said. A total of 32 local UDC entrepreneurs including journalists of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions took part in the ToT (master trainer).
The resource persons who provide training in the 3-day ToT are Farid Hossain, Dr. Aliu Rahman, Programme Coordinator of Access to Information (a2i) Programme Mazedul Islam, Outsourcing and e-Commerce expert SohelRana.
