The Board of Investment (BoI) will launch the World Investment Report (WIR) 2016 here on Wednesday, reports BSS.
On the occasion, BoI will hold a press conference at its premises at Jiban Bima Bhaban in Dhaka at 11am where Prime Minister's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Tawfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury will attend as the chief guest.
Dr M Ismail Hossain, professor of Econo-mics Depart-ment of the Jahangir Nagar University, will present the key findings of the report with BoI Executive Chairman SA Samad in the chair.
Like previous years, BoI is releasing the flagship annual report of UNCTAD simultaneously with other countries around the globe.
This year, however, UNCTAD is making full use of modern technology and, rather than launching the report in person in selected countries, will hold online press conferences based on language group.
"Our experts will be based in Geneva and ready for journalists to talk to them either by video or written 'chat' format during a live, online event similar to a 'webinar" an UNCTAD statement said, adding that journalists must register ahead of time if they plan to join in.
Each year's report covers the latest trends in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) around the world and analyses an in-depth selected topic related to FDI and development.
The year's report will have comprehensive analysis of global trends in FDI and prospects for 2016-2018, as well as its treatment of the ownership structures of multinational enterprises.
