ASI killed in road crash
An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police was killed as a truck hit his motorbike at Sutrapur Boardghor on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Kalikoir upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Taiyubur Rahman, an assistant sub-inspector of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station and son of late Abdul Ahad Miah of Datpara village in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail district.
Sub-inspector of Mirzapur Gorai Highway Police camp Abdul Motalib said a speeding truck hit a motorcycle carrying Taiyubur from opposite direction in the area at about 8:30pm, leaving him critically injured. Taiyubur was rushed to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Day of Orphans in the Muslim World today
Day of Orphans in the Muslim World-2016 will be observed in the country as elsewhere in the world today.
Marking the day, Islamic Relief Bangladesh in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Welfare will hold a programme at 4-30pm today at Shaheed Nurul Amin Khan Memorial Hall at Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation in the capital as part of raising awareness on the needs and challenges faced by orphan children. State Minister for Finance and Planning Ministry Muhammad Abdul Mannan will be present as the chief guest while Country Director of Islamic Relief Bangladesh Shabel Firuz will deliver welcome speech.
The decision to observe the “Day of Orphans in the Muslim World” came from “The Council of Foreign Ministries” of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Conakry, Guinea in December 2013.

Four shops fined Tk 77,000
Four consumer shops were fined Taka 77,000 on Sunday afternoon in Khulna city on charges of taking high prices of essential commodities, food preservation at unhygienic environment and not showing rate chart during the month of Ramadan.
A kitchen markets monitoring team of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) conducted drive at Moylapota area in the city. The team led by the executive magistrate Atiqul Islam conducted the drive at Malek Store, Akbor Store, departmental grocery shops, Radhuni Kabab Ghor and Hazi Briani House at Moylapota area in the city. Subsequently, the teams fined Tk 77,000 against the shop owners and released the fines instantly. Senior veterinary Surgeon (SVS) of KCC Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim and veterinary surgeon Dr. Peru Gopal and members of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), among others, were present.  SVS of KCC Dr. Rezaul Karim said such drive against the violation of consumers rights will be continued everyday during the holy month of Ramadan.
