Avijits father skeptical
Ajay Roy, father of Avijit Roy, yesterday raised question over the police statement that Sharif, who was killed in a shootout yesterday, was the mastermind behind the killing of his son. Talking to the media, he said the commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police recently told him that the three main suspects of Avijit has fled the country. Now, how did one of them appear? he questioned, adding that he was gradually loosing hope of getting justice for his sons murder. If the real perpetrators are killed in crossfire one after another then we can not keep trust upon the investigation agencies as well as upon the activities of the law enforcers. Even our confidence upon the government is fading gradually, he told BBC. He opined that if a person, who was involved in so many killings, was killed in crossfire, then justice would remain illusive. Any incident of crossfire killing is extra-judicial and court does not allow it he added.
