BCB chief selector Faruque to resign

The chief selector of the Bangladesh national cricket team Faruque Ahmed has decided to resign from his post, hours after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in a meeting approved a new system of selection with significant changes yesterday. Faruque who is now in New York, USA on personal visit, earlier raised his concerns over this three-tier process of selection that was proposed around three weeks ago, saying, "If this new system is adapted by the board, I won't stay."
“I am not keen to work in this environment because the selection panel couldn’t work independently if they are bound to report to the selection committee,” he said over phone. “I will resign after returning to the country or I can send my resignation letter from here,” he said. Under the new system, the national team selection process was split into two parts—a three-member selection committee that included cricket operations chairman Akram Khan as its convener and team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon along with head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. The selection committee will approve the team of the three-member selection panel headed by Faruque Ahmed before it was sent to BCB president for the final approval.
