The government employers are likely to enjoy a long Eid holiday this year stretching nine days starting from July 1. As one working day, July 4, falls between the Eid holiday’s, the government is likely to declare the day as a ‘General Holiday’, for the proper celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr and a hassle free journey, sources in the public administration ministry said. For declaring general holiday on July 4, the public administration ministry has sent a proposal to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) seeking approval of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the sources added. If the approval is given by the premier, the public administration ministry will issue a gazette notification in this regard within a couple of days. Talking to The Independent, Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury said that they have sent a proposal in this regard recently to the PMO seeking its approval.
Sources said, after July 4 is declared a ‘general holiday’, the government employees will be able to enjoy nine days of Eid holidays from July 1 to July 9.
