Power failure during power ministers meet
Even after trying for three times, Power Secretary Monowar Islam failed to reach the control room of the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) yesterday when power failure occurred at Bidyut Bhaban during a meeting. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid sat with the environmentalists and academicians in Bidyut Bhaban to discuss the Rampal power plant. The power secretary also took part in the meeting alongside the state minister. During the meeting, at around 2:30 pm, a power failure occurred. The conference room remained without electricity for some time and Monowar Islam immediately tried to contact the control room from his personal mobile phone. He however failed to reach anyone there. Apparently frustrated, the secretary told the state minister, who sat right beside him, I have tried three times so far, but nobody picks up. Nasrul eased the air by adding a little humour, Wherever I go, a power failures occur just to let everyone know that I am present there. This caused others to break into laughter. The electricity returned after a few minutes.
