Harmony can cut all sorts of social violence, crimes

RAJSHAHI: All sorts of violence, crimes and other anomalies in the society could be reduced to a greater extent through only maintaining social and communal harmony everywhere, reports BSS. To this end, political parties, professional leaders, development workers, leaders of influences and people of all other stakes should come forward and work together. The observations came at a roundtable dialogue titled “Our duties towards establishing social harmony” held at the hall room of Mohanpur Upazila Parishad in the district yesterday.
Regional office of The Hunger Project Bangladesh organised the meeting in association with “Promoting Democratic Inclusion and Governance through Youth (PRODIGY)” project and British Council. With Upazila Chairman Professor Abdus Samad in the chair, public representatives Nazrul Islam, Mostofa Kamal, Rina Begum, Muslima Begum, Anzuman Ara, Khorshed Alam and Wazed Ali, school teachers Yead Ali, Md Rokonuzzaman, Raihanul Haque, Ataur Rahman and Kawsar Ali, among others, addressed the meeting. PRODIGY Filed Coordinator Subrata Kumar Paul moderated the discussion. The discussants said that responsive and positive role by all quarters is very important for maintaining peace and social harmony everywhere in the society towards taking forward the country collectively. For the sake of building the nation as peaceful motherland, all of us should work together, they pointed out.
The nation would get rid of conflicts and confusion if the people of the society as well as the state machineries took a positive approach to establish peace and amity from their own position. If necessary, they would also take steps to build a national unity to free the nation from the clutches of conflicts, feud and violence. Various issues like communal harmony, right to information for creating awareness, prevention of violence against women and quality improvement in primary education were discussed elaborately in the meeting.
