‘Ansarullah man’ put on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court yesterday put a suspected member of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team on a five-day remand in a case over the killing attempt on publisher and blogger Ahmed Rashid Tutul, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Lutfur Rahman Shishir passed the order when Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police M Bahauddin, also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced Sumon Hossain Patwari alias Shakib alias Shihab alias Saifu before the court in the morning seeking a 10-day remand.
Earlier, DB police arrested Sumon on Wednesday night from airport bus stand area of the capital.
On October 31 last year, three people, including Shuddhashwar publisher Ahmed Rashid Tutul, were hacked by unidentified assailants at the office of the publishing house in the city’s Lalmatia area.
Following the incident, Tutul filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station.
