The treasury bench members yesterday hailed the proposed budget for next fiscal year, describing it as a proper guideline towards further progress to help implement the Vision 2021 of the present government, reports BSS. Taking part in a general discussion on the proposed budget for 2016-17, they said the government would be able to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021 and developed country by 2041 by implementing the country’s first ever-biggest budget.
In course of discussion, they said when Awami League is carrying forward the hopes and aspirations of the people to a targeted goal, BNP is trying to play a blame game saying that the ruling party is doing countrywide abduction and murder. They said Awami League is not a party to do the politics of abduction and murder, but BNP is such a party, which believes in the politics of conspiracy to come to power through the backdoor. Treasury Bench member Golam Mostafa alleged that BNP is plotting to grab power by using the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. BNP is also trying to portray Bangladesh as a fanatic state and convince the Israeli agency to help the party grab power by ousting the constitutional government. Another treasury bench member Dr M Eunus Ali Sarkar said the present government has increased the electricity supply and very soon electricity would reach every house even in the remote areas. Now the power sector is playing a significant role in the socio-economic development. Fazilatunnesa Indira from the treasury bench alleged that BNP considers Israel as their friend, who would help this party grab power. BNP has continuously been hatching conspiracy against the country, she said adding, this party has no right to do politics in the country.
Terming BNP as the party of destruction, she said this was busy burning the people to death, setting fire on the educational institutions and uprooting trees. The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributes books among the students and also plants saplings to give a look of green, she said.
Nurul Islam Milon from the opposition bench said the shape of the proposed budget is not important, but the main job is to implement it. He is, however, in doubt whether the National Board of Revenue (NBR) would be able to realize the targeted revenue as mentioned in the budget.
Because of the epoch-making programmes undertaken by the present government, the maternal and child mortality rates have declined remarkably in the country, leaving a rare instance for others, he said. They said the achievement of Bangladesh has been recognized nationally and internationally and the global awards received by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are the evidence of the successes. The lawmakers said if all concerned put in their best efforts from their respective positions, it would be implemented the planned development programmes and the new budget and the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina achieved tremendous success in all sectors. The lawmakers also termed the new budgetary allocations as a brave step for a developing country like Bangladesh but it was exclusively possible due to farsightedness of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
