Both Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange finished the week with returning the downward trend yesterday like opening day of the week, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day 16.72 points down at 4395.28, when the blue-chip DS30 declined by 8.70 points to 1729.29 and the Shariah DSES fell by 5.28 to 1082.82.
The market began the week downward and continued the fall till Monday. On Tuesday, the market saw upward trend, which continued till the end of Wednesdays trade.
The cumulative loss to the broader DSEX index during the week was 14.12 points when it was 8.11 points for DS30 and 0.66 points for DSES.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced the similar trend in the market, its major CSCX index closing about 16.071 points down at 8234.61.
The daily turnover in volume at DSE is about 9.51 crore shares when the daily trade value is about Tk 530.59 crore.
Among the traded 318 issues at DSE, 156 closed lower against 83 gaining issues. At CSE, 120 issues lost when 69 finished the day higher.
The DSE top five gaining companies were GQ Ballpen, 8th ICB, Agrani Insurance, Orion Infuation, and Ibn Sina. The major losers included Dulamia Cotton, Savar Refractories, Zeal Bangla, Quasem Drycell and IFIC 1st Mutual Fund. ACME Lab topped the turnover list followed by BBS, BSRM Limited, Doreen Power and Brac Bank.
