49 business houses fined Tk 2.19 lakh
CHITTAGONG: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) yesterday realised Taka 2.19 lakh as fines from 49 business establishments for various offences.
DNCRP in Dhaka, Bhola, Moulvibazar, Kishoreganj, Jessore, Goaplganj, and Patuakhali inspected different markets and fined the establishments, a press release said. In a drive, DNCRP fined Millennium Chinese Restaurant Taka 10,000, Talukdar Bakery Taka 3,000, Caree Family Taka 10,000 and Rajdhani Mistanno Vander Taka 10,000 in the capitals Mirpur area for selling products without Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and preparing foods in unhygienic condition.
DNCRP also penalized Bikrampur Mistanno Vander Taka 5,000, Basmati Taka 10,000 and New Cafe Jheel Taka 4,000 in Motijheel area for different offences including preparing foods in unhygienic condition and selling products at higher price.
DNCRP fined four business entities Taka 20,500 in Paltan area and seven business establishments Taka 50,500 in New Market area for various offenses.
In other drives, DNCRP fined two business entities Taka 8,000 at Bhola Sadar Upazila, 10 business establishments Taka 14,700 at Barlekha Upazila under Moulvibazar district, eight business entities Taka 61,000 at Bajitpur Upazila under Kishoreganj district, five business entities Taka 3,500 in Jessore Sadar Upazila, two business establishment Taka 3,500 in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila and three business entities Taka 6,000 in Mirjapur Upazila under Patuakhali district.
