Two guns seized in Sylhet
Members of Rapid Action Battalion-9 (RAB) seized two local made shooter guns and a knife near the MC College field in Tilaghor area in an abandon condition on Sunday night.
Tipped off, a team of RAB battalion-9, conducted a drive in the area and seized the two shooter guns along with knife near the MC College field. The RAB could not arrest anyone as the criminals managed to flee sensing the presence of the law personal.
Woman killed in road crash
A woman was killed after hit by a passenger bus in Shafipur Bazaar area in Gazipur yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Anita Rani (24), wife of Nibash Chandra Dash of Chapair area under Kaliakoir upazila in the district.
Officer in charge of Salna highway police station Mohammed Abu Dawood said a Dhaka bound passenger bus hit Anita Rani while she was crossing Dhaka-Tangail highway at Shafipur Bazar in Gazipur at around 7am yesterday, leaving Anita dead on the spot. Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Gazipur Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
College girl commits suicide
A college girl allegedly committed suicide at a hostel of Sylhet Government Womens College on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Shubhi Begum, 20, an honors 1st year student of Economics and daughter of Md Boshir Ali, a resident of Shri Dhorpasha village of Jagannathpur upazila. Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station, said Shubhi used to live in a room of the old hostel of the college along with 4-5 students. Several students of the hostel went to her room to call her to join them for the iftar as her roommates were not there at that time. Finding no response from inside the room, they peeped inside through the crack of the door and saw her body hanging from the ceiling. Informed, the hostel authority called police. Later, a team of police recovered the body from the room around 11pm.
