Intern doctors strike enters 3rd day

The strike, enforced by intern doctors of Barisal Sher- E- Bangla Medical College Hospital, entered third day yesterday that causes immense sufferings to the patients of the hospital.
Demanding apology of police official for assaulting a female intern they enforced the strike from Saturday.
Director of the hospital, however, called a meeting with the intern doctors yesterday noon in his office to explain that Patuakhali district police administration already closed the person responsible Sub Inspector Manoj Kumar to Patuakhali district police line and started investigation into the matter.
He requested them to call off their strike but intern doctors after holding a meeting vowed to continue their strike until the SI seek apology to them.
Dr Sirajul Islam, director SBMCH, acknowledging the facts said he yet to convince the intern doctors for withdrawing their strike.
Md Foyez Ahmed, additional superintendent of Patuakhali district police, said SI Manoj was closed to district police line after receiving allegation of assaulting a female intern doctor at Sher- E- Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).
Patuakhali district police authority also asked for a report from Barisal district police about the allegation and further action would be taken against the SI after receiving report, additional SP of Patuakhali district added.
Mentionable that intern doctors of Sher- E- Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) started strike from Saturday afternoon demanding unconditional apology from SI Manoj for assaulting a female intern on duty at medicine unit-1 of the hospital on Friday noon.
