Unidentified body recovered

Police recovered the body of an unidentified man from a drain near Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute of the town yesterday morning.
Local people saw the body floating in the drain around 9.00am and informed it to police. On information, police rushed recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Quamrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
Police said the victim is aged around 45. A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station.
Truck crash kills cop

A policeman was killed as a truck ran over him in Jokay area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior upazila early yesterday.
The victim Jakir Hossain, 49, son of Abdul Barek Mia of Ramnagar village under Baufal upazila of Patuakhali, was posted at Ghior Police Station as constable. His family members have been staying at Kodamtoli area of Siddhirganj upazila in Narayanganj permanently.
Officer in charge of Ghior Police Station Mizanur Rahman said the accident occurred at around 6: 30 am when Jakir was on duty under petrol party. He died on the spot when a Paturia bound truck (Dhaka Metro Ta 18-5833) ran over him when he was crossing the road. However, police arrested the truck’s helper, Lal Miah, and seized the truck.
Woman electrocuted
HABIGANJ: A woman was electrocuted at Dhuliakhal industry area in sadar upazila of the district on Saturday, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Nur Banu wife of Abdul Malek of Sultanshee village of the upazila.
Nur Banu was seriously injured as she came in contact with a live electric wire in the morning, local said.
Later, she was admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
Lightning strike kills woman in Satkhira
Satkhira: A woman was killed as a streak of thunderbolt hit her at Tuardanga village in Ashashuni upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Maloti Rajbongshi, 45, daughter of Tarapod Rajbongshi, a resident of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Ashashuni Police Station Asaduzzaman Munsi said Maloti died instantly when a thunderbolt struck her while she went out of the house during rain at about 8:30am.
Firefighter electrocuted

A firefighter was electrocuted at Dudsharapara in Kotchandpur upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Milon Hossain, 28, a staff of Kotchandpur fire service unit and an inhabitant of Raghunathpur village in Kaliganj upazila of the district.
Yasir Arafat, a worker of Kotchandpur Fire Service Station, said Milon, who lived in a rented house at Kotchandpur upazila town, came in contact with a live electric wire while taking bath with tube well water yesterday morning. He was rushed to Kotchandpur upazila health complex where attending doctors declared him dead.
Two killed in Sirajganj road accident
SIRAJGANJ: Two persons were killed and nine others were injured in separate road accidents on the highway of west Bangabandhu Bridge of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Pamosa Halder, 26 and helper of pick-up van Sohag, 25.
Police sources said the accident occurred when a pick-up van fell into a roadside ditch at Bhodraghat-Baniagati area, leaving eight injured.
Besides, the others accident occurred when a Covered van collided head on with a cement-laden truck, leaving three injured.
