The government will implement various training and development programmes at a cost of Taka 326.27 crore to enhance skills of 14,400 women under the poverty alleviation project in five northern districts, reports BSS.
This five-year programme will be implemented through the ministry of labour and employment for the socioeconomic development in the districts of Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Gaibandha.
Under the government’s women development and training programme, the female workers would be able to acquire skills to work in garment industry, according to a report of Bangladesh Economic Review -2016.
The report said that this initiative of training has been taken with a view to creating employment opportunities for women of ultra poor families if five northern districts.
Besides, the ministry of labour and employment will set up 26 technical training centres in 26 districts at a cost of 326.77 crore.
Some other ministries are also setting up technical training centres in 30 districts at a cost of Taka 825.72 crore. Enrolment of students will begin in these centres this year.
The government is giving emphasis on technical education to develop skilled manpower to implement its ‘Vision-2021.’
Bangladesh Economic Review-2016 says that along with increasing skills of women in rural areas through training, the government has undertaken extensive programmes to create awareness about health, education and work environment.
