The parliamentary standing committee on Health and Family Welfare Ministry yesterday suggested the ministry to follow foreign technical strategies to monitor every stage of drug production from buying raw materials to marketing, reports BSS. The meeting also recommended canceling of the licenses of 20 drug companies, a parliamentary secretariat statement said. The 11th meeting of the committee was presided over by the committee’s chairman Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim. The Committee suggested continuing the inspection of drug producing companies. It also recommended strengthening of the drug administration by punishing corrupted persons and recruiting skilled manpower and making the existing acts and policies time-befitting through amendment. The Committee recommended completing the constriction work of Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College soon and starting the machineries for Intensive Care Unit and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines at Gopalganj District Sadar Hospital and Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College. Committee members Minister Mohammad Nasim, State Minister Zahid Malik, AFM Ruhal Huq, M Yunus Ali Sarkar, Selina Begum joined the meeting, among others.
