Pabna: Police arrested a local leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir for his suspected involvement in the killing of an worker of a Hindu Ashram from Sadar upazila on Saturday night, reports UNB. Tipped off, a team of police arrested Ariful Islam, 23, secretary of literature and cultural affairs of district unit Islami Chhatra Shibir and son of Abdus Sattar of Charghoshpur village, from Bajitpur village around 10 pm, said Munshi Abu Kuddus, inspector of Sadar Police Station. As the arrestee sustained injuries in his leg he was admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Meanwhile, Manjurul Islam, president of district unit Shibir, said police arrested Ariful on his way home from a mosque after Fazr prayers. Earlier, Nittyaranjan Pandey, 62, an attendant of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra Ashram (asylum) was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Hemayetpur upazila early Friday. A case was filed in this connection.
