Police arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Muktagacha upazila of the district early yesterday. The arrestee is identified as Muklesur Rahman, 45, of Rampur village in the upazila.
Being tipped-off, a team of police raided Rampur village in the morning and arrested Muklesur when he was visiting his home, said Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Muktagacha Police Station.
Muklesur was jailed for 10 years in a case filed under the Special Powers Act, police said. Muklesur is also accused in two cases filed under Anti-terrorism Act with Muktagacha Police Station, said the OC.
