Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society split points when their Walton Primer Division Football League match ended in a tame 1-1 draw in the Group D match of Federation Cup Football at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday, reports BSS
After the barren first half, Team BJMC finally broke the deadlock in the 64th minute through their Nigerian midfielder Samson Illiasu. Midfielder Abdullah Parvez curved a free kick in the middle of the box and Illiasu headed the ball home into the far post (1-0).
Rafiqur Rahman Mamun restored for Rahmatganj in the 88th minute of the match as midfielder Didarul Alam curved a cross from the right flag and BJMC goalie Arifuzzaman Himel fisted away the ball that dropped in front of Mamun who made no mistake to shoot the ball at the top of the net (1-1).
With the day’s feat, Rahmatganj bagged two points from two matches while BJMC earned one point from their first encounter. Rahmatganj halted a strong Mohammedan 2-2 in their first match.
Now Mohammedan Sporting will have to beat Team BJMC in their last Group-D match to book a quarterfinal berth. Similarly Team BJMC can also earn a last eight berth if they could topple MSC. And a draw between MSC and BJMC could settle the issue on better goal difference. The MSC-BJMC battle will take place on June 14 at 7.30 pm.
