The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file a case against suspended mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) and another for allegedly swindling out about Tk 50 lakh from the corporation.
The Commission at a recent meeting decided to file the case against GCC mayor Prof Abdul Mannan and its accounts officer Md Golam Kibria,
Commission’s public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Earlier, in 2015, the ACC initiated a probe against them after it received an allegation that a huge amount of money was misappropriated from the relief fund of the corporation.
During the ACC probe, it has been found that Prof Abdul Mannan and accounts officer Golam Kibria in collusion with each other plundered about Tk 50 lakh from GCC’s the relief fund preparing 999 fake vouchers in between August 2013 to February 2015.
The national anti-corruption agency will file the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
