A court here yesterday issued warrants for the arrest of two physicians and the owner of a private clinic on charge of negligence that led to the death of a woman after childbirth, reports UNB from Chittagong. Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Harnu-or-Rashid issued the warrants after taking cognisance of a case filed against gynecologist Dr. Kajol Rekha, Registrar of Cardiac Surgery Department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Dr. Debashish Talukder and Managing Director of Patient Care Hospital Abdul Jabbar. According to the case statement, Sayma Shikder, 22, wife of assistant district judge of Noakhali Morshedul Alam, was under treatment of gynecologist Dr. Kajol Rekha during her pregnancy. On June 2, Sayma was admitted to Patient Care Hospital with labour pain as per Dr Rekha’s suggestion where she gave birth to a baby boy after a surgery. However, on June 3 she was transferred to Metropolitan Hospital in the city where doctors said that Sayma had died two hours back. Later, Sayma’s mother Salma Begum filed the case against the trio on Thursday.
