Terming provocative and unaccepted the Prime Minister’s comment that she has information about ‘BNP-Jamaat’s link’ to secret killings, BNP yesterday alleged that the recent murder incidents are happening at the ‘behest of the state’s highest level’, reports UNB. “The government couldn’t track the perpetrators through neutral probes even after so many killing incidents. Having miserably failed to get the minimum clue to the heinous incidents, the Prime Minister is shifting the blame on the opposition,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He further said, “We think, it’s in no way possible to carry out such killings and remain out of touch without the signal of the state’s top level or the ruling party.” Fakhrul came up with the comments while speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. At a press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina pointed the finger at the BNP-Jamaat clique for all the recent planned secret killings in the country claiming she has information in this regard.
Responding to a question whether the BNP-Jamaat is being blamed for the secret killings to save the real culprits, the Prime Minister said her government never talks rubbish. “You need to keep in mind that I’m the head of the government. Surely, I have the information when I talk about. I cannot share all the information for the sake of inquiry.”
Protesting Hasina’s allegation, Fakhrul said, “The Prime Minister’s comments are untruth, fabricated, provocative, unexpected, unaccepted, devoid of political etiquette and harmful to healthy politics. Her politically motivated comments will also widen the division in the country and encourage militants to be more active and organised.”
The Prime Minister’s comments are also tantamount to sparing militancy, he said adding, “We dismiss her remarks and strongly protest and condemn those.”
Fakhrul urged the government to take effective steps to unearth the mystery behind the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice through neutral investigations.
When the Prime Minister and the ministers blame BNP for the murder incidents without any probe and evidence, the investigation process is seriously hampered, he observed.
The BNP leader alleged that the government wants to implicate their party in such killings as part of its evil design to eliminate it and confuse the country’s people and the international community.
