The World Accreditation Day-2016 was observed across the country like elsewhere in the world, reports BSS.
This year, the theme of the day is “Accreditation: A global tool to support Public Policy”.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages wishing success of the day.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said the role of accreditation is very important to ensure quality of products and services.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the role of Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) is important to promote standardisation by enhancing capacity of services providing organisations and individuals.
She said the BAB can play an important role in promoting world class products and services.
“It is a great challenge for any country to bring all people under healthcare and social services,” she said adding the present government is attaching the highest priority to health and social services sectors for well-being of the people.
Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) and Dhaka Chamber and Commerce and Industry (DCCI) jointly organised a seminar marking the Day where Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu was present as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Television broadcast special programmes and mobile phone operators sent message through short message system to mark the Day.
