A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced four men to life term imprisonment and fined Tk one lakh for raping mother and her step daughter at Satkania in Chittagong in 2014.
The court of Md Rafiqul Islam of Children and Women Repression Prevention Court-1 handed down the two verdicts.
The convicts are Korban Ali, Ridwan Rahman, Abdur Rahim, and Rubel Chowdhury all are the residents of Keociya village of Satkania in Chittagong.
Among the convicts Korban Ali and Abdur Rahim now behind the bar and the rest two have remained absconding. In the case there was another accused named Maksud Hasan, the charge framed against him sent to children court for justice as his age was recovered only 16.
“The five persons raped the mother and daughter on June 14, 2014. In the case court handed down verdict for four accused. As an accused was under aged his justice sent to children court. The court sentenced to life term imprisonment to four accused,” said Jesmin Ahkhter, Public Prosecutor of the tribunal. “At the late night, the five accused entered the home of the woman and raped her and her step-daughter repeatedly. Over the incident the woman filed a case with Satkania police station on June 15, 2014,” said the court sources.
On December 12, 2014 Satkania police submitted charge sheet before the court indicting the five. On April 9, 2015 the court framed the charge against four except the child. After examining seven witnesses out of 12 and the records the court handed down the verdict.
