Only one of a sumptuous series of visual tours of homes all over the world, ‘Living in Bali’ remains true to form in its contemporary interpretation of design. Other visual feasts include ‘Living in Greece’, ‘Living in Morocco’, ‘Living in Mexico’.
The omnipresent colour palate in the Bali hideaways is one of weathered rustic patina of wood, the luminescent white of furnishings; the azure blue of water-bodies and nature’s green grandeur – where verdant ferns and foliage convey the majesty of the tropical terrain. And then simply to tantalize the eye – a sudden splash of floral fantasy is captured in the book frame. Thick-set thatched roofs amongst lush vegetation of slender bamboo plants nestle homes with names like: ‘Forest in the Mist’, ‘Coconut House’, ‘ River House’, ‘Garden of the Moon’, ‘Villa Matisse’ and my favourite: ‘Senja’ which translates as ‘Watching Twilight.’
Stunning visuals reinforce one’s sense of mental quietude. In hand is a heavenly haven for body, mind and soul. ‘Living in Bali’ brings it altogether in Samadhana (Harmony).
