Two officials from the Indian high commission in Dhaka yesterday visited the house of slain Hindu priest Ananda Gopal Ganguly, 70, in Jhenidah sadar upazila and assured the priest’s family of assistance.
Political and Information Secretary Rajesh Uike and Third Secretary (Councillor) Ramakant Gupta reached Ganguly’s house at noon and later visited the spot where he was killed.
The Indian high commission delegation offered all possible cooperation to Ganguly’s family, said Superintendent of Police in Jhenaidah (SP) Altaf Hossain, who was present during the visit.
Local leaders of the Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikyo Parishad and the Puja Udjapon Parishad were present during the meet.
Ganguly was murdered on Tuesday when he was going to a temple in Naldanga union of the upazila for offering prayers.
