Bangladesh Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) has sought support from the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to explore business potential in Myanmar, reports UNB.
A delegation of the trade body met EPB Vice Chairman Mafruha Sultana at latter’s office in the city recently and discussed in detail the strategies of bilateral business development means with special emphasis on confidence building measures.
BMCCI president SM Nurul Hoque, senior vice president Sheikh MA Sohhan Liton, executive director M Musleh Uz Zaman, Director Finance Dewan Faruque and EPB director general Dr ASM Manzur Kadir attended the meeting, the trade body said in a press release yesterday.
They laid emphasis on efforts towards exploring huge trade potential of using gateway to Asean and Saarc.
The BMCCI leaders said the endeavour should begin with boosting the image between the countries’ business communities. While developed countries are already investing in Myanmar, Bangladesh, having a ready market to consume with low freight requirement, should take proper steps to utilise the potential, said the BMCCI leaders. In this regard, they said, a single country exhibition can be held in Myanmar at the end of the year as part of confidence building measures.
The EPB VC said the country branding event with cooperation from the Chamber can help boost trade ties between the two countries.
