Cheque handed over for non-govt educational institutions
The government has handed over cheques to the main offices of Agrani and Rupali banks and local offices of Janata and Sonali banks for the month of May of the government part of salaries and allowances of teachers and employees of non-government secondary and higher secondary educational institutions (school, college and madrasa), reports BSS.
The teachers and employees will withdraw their salaries and allowances through their respective bank accounts till June 15, said a release.
Road crash kills minor girl
A minor girl was killed as a pick up van hit her on the Nachole-Amnura road at Hamidpur village under Nachole upazila of the district yesterday morning, reports BSS from Chapainawabganj.
The deceased was identified as Jui, 6, daughter of Babul Akhtar of Guthoil village in Nachole municipality.
Officer-in-charge of Nachole Thana Fasir Uddin said the accident occurred when the mango-laden pickup van hit Jui in the area at about 9 am while she was crossing the road. Jui died on the way to hospital.
Youth killed by miscreants
A youth was killed by miscreants at Hajipara village of Rangaon union under Bochaganj upazila of the district on Tuesday last night, reports BSS from Dinajpur.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam Riad, 17, son of Abdul Baki, resident of the same area.
Being informed, police recovered the slaughtered body of Riad from a chili field this morning and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital (DMCH)morgue, police sources said.
A case was filed with Bochaganj Thana in this connection.
Dupuria bridge inaugurated
The newly constructed Dupuria bridge on the Someswari river under Jhenaigati upazila of the district was inaugurated yesterday, reports BSS from Sherpur.
A K M Fazlul Haque, MP, formally inaugurated the bridge at a simple ceremony as the chief guest.
Roads and Highways Division implemented the construction of the bridge at a cost of Tk 3.20 crore under the supervision of the concerned officials.
Fazlul Haque said the long standing communication problem of Jhenaigati and Sribardi upazila is now solved as they can now travel easily.
Body of pregnant woman recovered
Police recovered the body of an unidentified pregnant woman from the cabin of a launch at Chandpur launch Ghat on Tuesday, reports BSS from Chandpur.
Being informed, a team of police of Chandpur Model thana recovered the body from a cabin of the Chandpur bound launch from Dhaka “MV Abe-A-Jam Jam-1.
Police also arrested manager Mohammad Yunus
Miah, 35, supervisor Farhad,27,and 3 other employees, Shouhagh, 30,Sujan,24 and Riyadh, 23, in this
connection.
