Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, MP, yesterday said the government provided 410 ambulances and 10 river ambulances to hospitals aimed at further improving service to the patients across the country, reports BSS.
“The government has completed the procedure of procuring 50 ambulances during the current fiscal year 2015-2016,” he said this while replying to a question from treasury bench member M Nazrul Islam Babu yesterday.
The minister said his ministry would distribute ambulances to hospitals after getting those. Besides, ambulances have been lying inoperative at around 70 upazilas across the country.
He said the government has provided 10 river ambulances to Dirai, Shalla and Dharmapasha (Sunamganj), Ajmeriganj (Habiganj), Mithamoin, Astragram and Itna (Kishorganj), Mehendiganj (Barishal), Khaliajuri (Netrakona) and Chowhali upazlia (Sirajganj).
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Mamtaj Begum, Nasim said the government established community clinic at every former ward under union across the country to give more healthcare to the rural poor and underprivileged people.
