Extension of animal husbandry education demanded at BAU
Mymensingh: Students of the Animal Husbandry faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) yesterday formed a human chain on the campus demanding the extension of animal husbandry education and execution of the organogram proposed by livestock division.
Students Association of the faculty formed a human chain in front of the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium on the campus around 12:30pm.
In the human chain, the students alleged that the president of the Veterinary Association Md Akhtar Hossain, also member of University Grants Commission, is creating hindrance by applying illegal influence.
The students urged to run Animal Husbandry faculty in other agriculture and technological universities to boost up this education and also demanded to set up a separate livestock development division.
JU goes on 41-day vacation
SAVAR: Jahangirnagar University (JU) went on a 41-day vacation from Tuesday on the occasion of summer, Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
All academic activities will remain closed till July 17 while administrative activities will remain closed from June 11 to 16, JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique said.
The students dormitories will be kept vacant from July 1 to 14 to maintain security and some renovation works, the Registrar added.
Eastern University holds orientation
The orientation ceremonies for the students of undergraduate programme of the summer semester of Eastern University (EU) were held on Saturday in the University Plaza at Dhanmondi in the capital, says a press release.
Shameem Ahsan, president, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Service (BASIS), was the chief guest in the programme while Abdur Rab, vice-chancellor of EU presided over the programme. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Pro Vice Chancellor; deans; advisors; chairpersons; registrar; teachers; officials and students were present in the programme, among others.
