Man jailed for killing wife in Gazipur

A Gazipur court yesterday sentenced a man to 10 years jail for killing his wife in 2010.
The Judge of Gazipur District and Session Judge Court A KM Anamul Haque handed down the verdict. The convict man was identified as Hamid Ullah Hamid,44, son of late Abdus Shahid of Torgaon Uttarpara area of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district.
The convict was also fined Tk 5,000 at the same time, in default, to suffer three months more in jail.
Public Prosecutor of Gazipur Judge Court advocate Mohammed Haris Uddin said, Hamid strangled his wife Hosna Ara over a family feud on January 18 in 2010. Deceased brother Mohammed Jamal Uddin filed a case with Kapasia police station in this connection. Later, police arrested Hamid on January 27.
