Magical Mustafiz dazzles again

Sports reporter

Mustafizur Rahman continued his dream spell by becoming only the second bowler to take five wickets in his first two matches after Zimbabwe fast bowler Biran Vittori.
During the second match against visitors India, he claimed six wickets sparing 43 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka yesterday.
The Zimbabwe fast bowler achieved the feat against Bangladesh in 2011. Mustafizur, a left-arm pacer, eclipsed his previous personal best of five for 50 that came in first ODI against India. His 11 wickets in the first two matches eclipsed the feat of Vittori’s 10.
“I am very happy," said Mustafizur Rahman after earning his second consecutive man of the match award. "My team-mates helped me a lot to do well. Thanks to the crowd too for turning up despite the rain. I want to bowl even better in the third ODI," added the all-smiles quickie.
Mustafizur began his campaign yesterday with Rohit Sharma when he removed the Indian opener, who tasted his 12th duck—second against Bangladesh—in the very second delivery of the first over of the match. Rohit slicedthe ball to the point where Sabbir Rahman took a stunning catch.
The left-arm seamer thereafter got rid of Mahendra Singh Dhoni with his formidable cutter when the Indian skipper ended up jabbing at a length ball, which lobbed to Soumya Sarkar at short cover.
Dhoni’s wicket was a sweet revenge for him considering the perspective of the first match when Dhoni willingly shoved him on the pitch. Dhoni’s shoving made him injured and he had to leave the field for a medical treatment.
Dhoni was fined 75 per cent match fee for the offence while Mustafizur was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee for obstructing Dhoni’s way.
The 19-year-old pacer raised hope of a hat-trick once again when he followed Dhoni’s wicket trapping Axar Patel, who played across the line for his third duck in his last four innings, leg-before in the fourth delivery of his eighth over.
This was his second chance for a hat-trick as he had faced the same situation on debut by removing Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin in the fourth and fifth deliveries of his third spell on June 18.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who got out to Mustafizur’s slower ball in the last match, was out to face the hat-trick ball.
