Wife files dowry case

A Jessore court yesterday issued an arrest warrant against Monirul Islam, Jessore correspondent of Bangla daily Prothom Alo, in a case filed by his wife alleging torture and demand of dowry.
The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Ibrahim issued the warrant yesterday following the petition of the plaintiff, said Shahriar Babu, lawyer for complainant Jahanara Khatun. The court also fixed August 23 for next hearing on the case.
Jahanara, on June 13, filed a case with Kotwali Police Station against her husband Monirul Islam. Monirul went into hiding following the filing of the case.
