Die Sprache, a German language learning centre in Chittagong, celebrated its eighth founding anniversary on Saturday at its Jamalkhan centre. The newly appointed ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh Dr Thomas Prinz attended the ceremony as chief guest. While speaking at the ceremony, the ambassador also said, “It is really inspiring that there is a German language learning centre in Chittagong like Die Sprache. ‘Die Sprache’ was acting as a bridge between Germany and German-goers,” The ambassador also highlighted that Germany was increasingly getting popular as a higher education choice for many Bangladeshi students. “The number of students wishing to go Germany for study purpose has been increasing steadily since Germany is one of the few countries which do not charge any tuition fees for higher studies,” said the ambassador. “The medium of instruction in the universities of Germany is English. However, the day-to-day life in Germany becomes easier if any foreigner knows German,” added Prinz.
